INEC drops off recall notice at Dino’s office.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday, September 26, dumped Dino Melaye recall notice at the door of his National Assembly office in Abuja,
The troubled senator from Kogi West was not around to receive the people from INEC as he was in the senate chamber when they arrived.
A new timetable to kick start the recall process for the Kogi West lawmaker has been given and will commence on October 3, 2017, with the Notice of Verification.
According to the timetable the last day for the submission by observers will take place October 5, while the publication of the list of accredited observers will commence October 9 respectively.
The conduct of verification will take place on October 14 in all polling units in Kogi West Senatorial District, the timetable revealed.
Dino Melaye in a reaction to the development on Monday at a press conference in Abuja, the lawmaker said the 90-day deadline set for INEC by Section 69 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) has expired.
“I celebrate the obituary of the ‘Made in Taiwan’ recall exercise, while sympathizing with the induced petitioners, who will obviously face charges of forgery and other criminal charges before a court of law very, very soon.”
Melaye alleged that it was only after several attempts at his life had failed that “they” resorted to this sham process of recall.
