In Osun, police allegedly shoots man dead for protesting against kidnapper

There was unrest in Iwo, a small town in Osun State on August 15,  as a woman suspected to be a kidnapper was apprehended by an angry mob.

The unrest reportedly led to the death of a member of the irate mob.

According to an eye witness, the suspect usually leaves her house dressed like she is going to an office then later changes to a mad person’s costume so as to carry out her “real” business.

Police and residents disagree over the death toll of the attack in which Oladele was killed.
Police reportedly killed one of the protesters.

On this fateful day, however, a passerby saw her changing her corporate wears to tattered ones and instantly knew something was fishy, the witness said.

The witness continued:

“So she hid and waited to see what she was up to. The suspect later caught a little girl, and was about taking off with her when the woman raised alarm. After the lady was caught, an angry mob took her to the palace of the Oluwo of Iwo land Oba Rasheed Adewale Akanbi Telu 1, who later called the police.”

People were reportedly annoyed the to hear the police were going to interfere. Many reportedly said the kidnapper ought to be killed, not arrested.

That, according to a source, led to a protest. And irate mob started throwing stones at the palace, hence destroying a part of the palace.

Police officers allegedly fired live rounds to send protesters away. Two people were allegedly shot in the process. One reportedly died at the spot while the other was hospitalised.
