In Ekiti, mother of three inserts hot knife and pepper into niece’s vagina for eating baby food

An Ekiti state resident has been arrested for committing a shocking assault on a toddler who lives with her.

Esther Abgundu who hails from Gwer Local Government Area of Benue State was arrested by local police allegedly inserted a hot knife into a 5-year-old girl’s private part.

According to reports, Abgundu also inserted pepper into the girl’s private part for eating out of her daughter’s food. This which she did, after unleashing a serious beating on the teenage girl.

In a petition to the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, by the Justice Development and Peace Commission, JDPC Director, Reverend Father Emmanuel Akingbade, the abused girl is a niece to Abgundu.

The petition reads, “The five-year-old is a niece to Mrs Abgundu and they reside together at Ijelu-Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State.”

“The victim was babysitting Mrs Abgundu’s baby and in the course of feeding the baby, she took a spoon of the baby’s food and ate.”

“This annoyed the respondent so much that she inserted pepper in her private parts. The respondent further put a knife in the fire and inserted the hot knife in the victim’s private parts, and equally impressed the hot knife on the outer part of her private parts.”

“Still not satisfied, she was beaten mercilessly and urged not to cry aloud.”

On receiving the report of the incident, JPDI’s officials visited the community as well as the traditional ruler, Oba Isaac Adetoyinbo Ajayi.

“The Elejelu of Ijelu-Ekiti confirmed the report and further informed us that he has notified the Divisional Police Officer of Ilupeju-Ekiti of the incident and the latter sent officers to arrest the respondent a day after the incident was reported at the palace.” The priest said.

Father Akingbade added that the monarch, “confirmed also that the victim was, on the night of the incident, rushed to Ijelu-Ekiti Health Centre.”

“We visited the health centre for verification and questioning, and further explained that the officials of the centre, as well as relatives of the victim, confirmed the incident.”

He said that the five-year-old had been a victim of “frequent inhuman and degrading treatments,” adding “we took a closer look at the victim to confirm the incident of maltreatment, child abuse and molestation.”

Father Akingbade also alleged that Abgundu, “was released barely few hours after her arrest and boastfully roams the streets of Ijelu-Ekiti as if nothing happened, while the victim is neither able to walk nor sit well and still groans in much pains and discomfort.”
