Important travel and safety advisory to all our readers

This is a word of caution to all our friends around the country, as the events around the protests holding today February 6, 2017 unfold.

As you may all be aware, the original convener of the protests: Innocent ‘2baba’ Idibia released a video on February 4, announcing that the planned protest has been called off.

However, we understand that other stakeholders, including EiE, plan to go ahead with the protests.

The force headquarters does not want the protests to hold. And the Police PRO himself confirmed on Channels News last night that it was indeed the government that forced 2baba to cancel.

In view of this, we advise that before you step out of your various homes today please check to find out about the current situation in your neighborhood.

Make use of radio, TV and social media platforms for any updates and hint of unrest in your vicinity or route.

Check for official police announcements from the police official handle on Twitter (@policeng), feeds from handles like @newsroomdaily, @thenetng, @thecableng, @channelstv, @mobilepunch and other credible platforms.

It is more important to be careful and safe than to get caught up in any fights or violent outbursts.

Except you are joining the protests, we strongly advise that you avoid traveling around the National Stadium in Lagos, the Unity Fountain in Abuja, and its environs.

Here are the Lagos Sate emergency numbers if you need to alert the police: 766 or 112.

We ask again that everyone be very careful and watchful.

Please be safe!
