Impact: Iwaya residents show delight as government fix horrible road after Newsroom story
Residents of Iwaya area of Lagos State called Newsroom on Monday to express their delight at the positive impact a story we did on the community made in so short a time.
A citizen reporter sent us the pictures on September 6. We ran the story a day after, shared it on Facebook and asked Iwaya residents to keep sharing it till it gets to the authorities.
Well, they did!..and it did!
This is what that road looks like fourteen days after.
Temitope Wusu, an Iwaya resident, said he was delighted at the development.
He said he wished Nigerian media would focus more on grassroots reporting and help develop the country from bottom up.
Leading media trainer, Taiwo Obe of Journalism Clinic, also called in to express his pleasure at the positive impact.
We’re glad we made impact. That wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Iwaya residents who shared the story widely.
