“Identify yourself or be arrested” – Lagos Police tell residents, students, workers at Ikorodu
The Lagos State Police Command has issued a statement to all residents of Ikorodu to, henceforth, move around with a valid form of identification.
The command said in a statement signed by its PPRO ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole that the will take effect on Tuesday (today).
Famous-Cole also said that everybody – residents, students, workers, visitors – are not exempted from having valid form of identification on them.
“This has become important and necessary because of the series of police operations lined up in the area by the Lagos state police command led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations,” he said.
“The Lagos state police command is deeply concerned about the criminal activities in the area which is not only unlawful but also affecting the integrity of the state.
“The planned police operations demands residents to carry on them a valid form of identification which will be verified, in order not to be restricted or face apprehension as adequate security arrangements have been put in place for the safety of every Nigerian throughout the state by the police and other security agencies.”
At least a 100 persons were arrested on Saturday by operatives of the state police command on accusation of being part of the dreaded Badoo cult group.
