IBADAN: Husband machetes wife’s hand for stealing his money

One Olusola Ojewole was arraigned before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State on Thursday, for allegedly cutting his wife’s hand with a cutlass on suspicion that she stole his money.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Opeyemi Olagunju told the court that Ojewole committed the crime on November 4.

He had allegedly attempted to kill his wife Dorcas but ended up leaving her with a deep cut on her left hand. Ojewole faces an attempted murder charge.

“Ojewole alleged that Dorcas stole N13,000 he kept in his room, but the complainant denied the accusation, the matter later led to hot arguments between the couple, which prompted Dorcas to flee to her neighbour’s room,” Olagunju said.

“She thought the accused had gone, but as she opened her neighbour’s door, the accused attacked her and cut her hand with cutlass.”
