“I did not kill them” – Danish man accused of killing wife, daughter in Lagos
The court has ordered that Peter Nielsen, the Danish national who allegedly killed his wife to be remanded in custody.
Nielsen, 53, was arraigned on two counts bordering on murder before the Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, today.
The prosecutor, CSP Effiong Asuquo, told the court that Nielsen committed the offences on April 5 at his residence at Block 4, Flat 17, Bella Vista Tower, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos.
He alleged that he killed his wife, Zainab, 37, and their daughter, Petra, in the house.
“The accused, who was always at loggerheads with his wife, had hit her head on the wall several times, leading to her death. He also proceeded to poison his daughter.
“He had dragged their bodies under the gas to create the impression that they suffocated to death as a result of a gas leakage,” he said.
Nielsen, who faces death sentenced if found guilty of the offences, pleaded not guilty.
The case has been adjourned until May 8, pending the DPP’s advice.
