Residents of communities in Abeokuta, Ogun State have been left to count their losses after heavy flood swept away all in its path yesterday.

One of the eyewitnesses, Oyinlomo, recounted how she and her two children almost lost their lives in the flood.

She shared: “I was in this bus with my kids, all the passenger had already came down when they saw the flood entering the bus. But, I was with 2 kids and couldn’t help the situation, I cried my eyes out bitterly begging people to help me carry my kids out even if I would die in the flood but everyone were just after themselves (well understood).

“The people that are taller than me were drowned to the level of their chest in the flood without carrying kids, what about me with an average height with kids?
We were helpless, crying and praying.

“My first daughter said, ‘Mummy, is dis how we will die?’ I shouted at her ‘ just keep praying we can’t die’ but within me I already lost hope myself.”

“You might not understand how worst it was but I was rescued after 15mins of (mistakenly) taking this video, and it was still raining heavily non stop, so you can imagine how our bus was flooded, all the cars around me, their head could not be seen.
