How to follow NBA live games on ESPN 2 – DStv in August
DStv brings you the NBA Live Games on ESPN 2
Basketball fans and viewers on DStv can look forward to thrills and spills from the worldβs best basketball league, as ESPN 2 brings live action from the 2019-20 National Basketball Association (NBA) season this coming week, Friday 7 to Thursday 13 August 2020.
The first of five live matches available to viewers this week arrives on the evening of Friday 7 August, as the San Antonio Spurs host the Utah Jazz (6:00pm LIVE on ESPN 2). The Jazzβs Rudy Gobert scored the first points in the NBAβs return last week, as his team recorded a comeback victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.
βLife works in mysterious ways. Iβm just happy. Blessed to be able to get back on the court, do what I love to do, get back out there with my teammates and try to win a game,β said the Frenchman, who is a two-time defensive player of the year.
Saturday evening, 8 August sees the LA Clippers take on the Portland Trail Blazers (6:00pm LIVE on ESPN 2). Clippers forward Montrezl Harrell left the bio-bubble in Disney World in July to be with his family following the passing of his grandmother, and coach Doc Rivers has told the player to take all the time he needs before returning to action.
“From others, I get asked from inside like, when is Trez coming back and my answer’s been the same,” Rivers said. “When he’s ready, he’ll come back. You can’t play if you’re not right mentally and because of the emotional part of it… His grandmother is very tight with him so all I told him is I love him and take your time. We’ll be ready with open arms when you come.”Β
After a long day at work on Monday 10 August, kick back and enjoy the Utah Jazz v Dallas Mavericks (8:00pm LIVE on ESPN 2). The Mavericks will be looking for star player Luka Doncic to continue his scoring spree, though the Slovenian is worried by his teamβs tendency to throw away late leads.
βWeβre a young team. Weβve got a lot to learn,β said Doncic. βWeβll get better for sure. I know weβre going to get together when it matters most in the playoffs, so Iβm not worried about that.βΒ
The NBA action keeps on rolling in the working week with Tuesday August 11 eveningβs visit of the Houston Rockets to the San Antonio Spurs (7:00pm LIVE on ESPN 2). The Rocketsβ James Harden has long been one of the NBAβs top players and Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle believes the shooting guard is βpound for pound, one of the best scorers in the history of basketball, up there with all the greatsβ.Β
Carlisle added, βYou look at the number of points heβs averaging, itβs breathtaking what heβs done over the past couple of years.βΒ
On the evening of Thursday 13 August, the weekend will be just around the corner and you can celebrate by watching the LA Lakers take on the Sacramento Kings (8:00pm LIVE on ESPN 2). While the Lakers are always headlined by the presence of LeBron James, coach Frank Vogel recently underlined the importance of lesser-heralded players such as Dion Waiters and J.R. Smith.
βI think theyβve had really strong bursts,β said Vogel of the pairβs form since the restart. βWe know theyβre talented. For me, itβs been an opportunity to shape their play the way we want them to fall into their roles. Their roles are different. For Dion, to be very aggressive touching the paint, trying to get to the charge circle, making good reads.β
