How Buhari was scammed with “fake” Martin Luther King award
President Muhammadu Buhari has received a fake award and probably doesn’t even know it.
The president was, days ago, bestowed with an honorary 1st Black History Month National Black Excellence and Exceptional African Leadership Award 2018 by the family of iconic civil rights activist, Martin Luther King.
Buhari posed for pictures with Dr King’s family at the Villa, with an appreciative speech to match.
Turns out that award was NOT sanctioned by Dr King’s immediate family.
The award given to President Buhari of Nigeria was not given by The King Center, at the request of The King Center or by the children of #MLK and #CorettaScottKing. @MrFixNigeria

The award, Newsroom finds out, was actually from the family of Alfred Daniel King, Martin Luther King’s late brother.
AD King’s wife, Naomi Barbara King had, in 2007, set up the AD King Foundation to bring to light the contributions and legacy of her late husband.
The foundation was duly headed by Dr. Rev. Babs Olusegun Onabanjo, a Nigerian, who was tasked to develop and manage the project when it launched in January 2007.
Dr Onabanjo, findings have revealed, had organised the award presentation to Buhari through the AD King Foundation.
Though Buhari in his acceptance speech spoke gleefully of Martin Luther King and his legacy, the award the president received has nothing to do with the late icon’s immediate family.
