Housewife, 15, poisons 5-year-old stepdaughter for “irritating” her
The Niger State Police Command has apprehended a 15-year-old housewife, Fatima Adamu, and her ex-lover Usman Mohammed, for allegedly poisoning a 5-year-old girl in Niger state.
Fatima and Mohammed were said to have given concoction to the little girl, causing her death.
It was alleged that Fatima after poisoning the baby with the cooperation of her ex-boyfriend, dumped the corpse in a nearby bush. Some parts of the baby were said to be missing.
The teenager confessed to the crime when she paraded on Tuesday.
“I purposely killed my step-daughter because I didn’t like her, she irritated me a lot; I planned with Mohammed to poison her to death,” Fatima said.
“I just woke up one morning to take her life and I cannot tell what had come over me to kill an innocent child that had not offended me in any way. May Allah forgive me; it is the worst offence against humanity.”
Mohammed, on his part, admitted that he participated in the killing of the girl, saying “I have ruined my life.”
“I prepared the poison which I gave to Adamu to kill the girl. I regret my action,” he said.
The Niger State police spokesman, Muhammad Abubakar, said the suspects would be arraigned in court after investigation.
