House of Reps Blames Human Error for 2025 UTME Result crisis
The House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education and Examination Bodies has revealed that the discrepancies surrounding the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results were caused by human error, not a technical malfunction.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, the committee’s chairman, Hon. Oboku Oforji, stated that preliminary investigations point to a human mistake as the root cause of the issue that has impacted more than 300,000 candidates nationwide.
“Our early findings show clearly that this was not a system failure. It was an avoidable human error that led to the confusion,” Oforji emphasised, reassuring the public that the committee is working closely with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to ensure accountability and prevent future occurrences.
