Hours after Otedola Bridge fire, another tanker accident recorded on Minna-Suleja road
Barely 20 hours after nine lives were lost in a tanker explosion on Otedola bridge, another tanker accident has occurred at Maje along Minna-Suleja road.
The tanker, with no visible number plate, and carrying kerosene, was said to have collided with a trailer on the road.
The spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Bisi Kazeem, confirmed that no life was lost in the incident and the victims have been taken to the hospital.
Kazeem said the accident happened around 9a.m and five persons were injured.
“The accident happened on Suleja-Minna road, specifically in Mallam Karo village, on Friday,” Kazeem said.
Kazeem said the fuel tanker belongs to Conoil.
“The cause of the crash was speed violation, leading to loss of control,” Kazeem added.
“Victims have been taken to the General Hospital Suleja, as they were attended to by FRSC officials and other security agents such as men of the Nigerian Police Force and Fire Service officials from Suleja.
“The vehicles caught fire after a head-on collision,” he said.
There are increasing calls for the Federal Government to do something about the trailers and tankers moving on the highway during the day.
