Hollywood’s Universal now boasts the biggest Box Office sales ever

By Adeniyi A.

Universal Pictures has recorded a box office milestone with the successes attained by its movies released so far.

The studio’s movies have amassed $5.53 billion worldwide at the box office with only the third quarter of 2015 gone, TNS reports.

That means Universal hit the milestone in only seven months in a year!

Until now the previous record holder had been Fox Networks with its 2014 figure of $5.52 billion.

Jurassic World alone raked in $1.56 billion for Universal.

The Chairman of Universal Pictures, Donna Langely and Jeff Shell, Chairman of Universal Films couldn’t contain their joy, with Shell announcing, “At Universal we are fortunate to have the best team in the business.”

“This tremendous success is a result of continued strategic decision-making from our production, marketing and distribution teams, along with strong dating choices.

“I’m tremendously proud of the success we’ve been able to achieve together.”

Here are the releases that earned Universal their bragging rights:

Jurassic World – $1.56 billion, Furious 7 – $1.51 billion, Minions – $856.9 million, Fifty Shades of Grey – $569.7 million and Pitch Perfect 2 which has earned $283 million so far.

To crown it all, the company stated that it still has about ten more films to release in the last five months remaining in 2015, a clear sign that it will extend its records further.
