HEALTH: Police officer dies in LASUTH because of “lack of oxygen”

One of the policemen who suffered fatal accident on Sunday afternoon died because of unavailability of oxygen at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), new reports reveal.
Four officers – Inspector Donatus Igwe; the driver of the patrol vehicle, Inspector Segun Ajibade; Woman-Sergeant Blessing Umoru; and Sergeant Idowu Ibidapo – had died when their patrol vehicle collided with a truck along Agbowa Road in Ikorodu, Lagos.
The officers were said to be on a mission to arrest some suspected fake policemen operating in the area when the accident occurred.
Police spokesman, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole said three of the officers died on the spot while two others were rushed to the hospital.
According to reports, the spokesman said one of the two officers, identified as Sergeant Ibidapo, died at LASUTH because he was not quickly connected to oxygen to enhance his breath.
Doctors at the hospital reportedly said they were short of oxygen.
The team leader, identified as ASP Tola, survived the accident.
The Nigerian health sector has been deemed substandard and unreliable by many citizens.
