Hajj: BBOG, Muslim women pay tribute to first female Northern Nigerian editor who died in stampede tragedy
Hajiya Bilkisu Yusuf died in the Hajj stampede that killed 769 others in Mina, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday.
The late Bilikisu was the first female editor from Northern Nigeria.
Prior to her death, she worked as editor of the New Nigerian Newspapers and the Citizens magazine in Kaduna.
She also worked with the Triumph Newspaper in Kano and as a columnist.
The Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group paid a condolence visit to her family.
The Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), has also condoled with the family Bilikisu’s tragic passing.
Bilikisu, a veteran journalist, was a former national leader of FOMWAN.
“Bilkisu will be remembered for her humility; as a mentor; mother to all; an advocate of peace and someone whose door was open to anyone that requires her counsel,’’ FOMWAN said in a statement.
“It is a great loss to us, but God knows all. We mourn her but we know Allah has a special plan for her.”
Bilikisu went to this year’s Hajj to worship her God. May her soul rest in peace.
