Grassroot fraud! Local government worker collects salaries for 160 persons
The Benue State government have been screening local government workers in the state, and some startling revelations have been made.
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, Sunday, revealed that the screening has shown that one individual inserted 160 names on a payment voucher and was collecting salaries for the names.
The governor feels justified for insisting that local government staff be screened.
Ortom made the disclosure at the 2015 Praise Night held at the Open Air Theatre of the Aminu Kontagora Complex.
He stated his commitment to make the best out of the resources available to the state given the current economic downturn.
“We are committed to doing the right thing. I have told appointees who took the oath of office before me that they must sit up and be prepared to serve the state selflessly,” he said..
