Governors of Rivers, Kano, Plateau Set to Defect to APC – Arodiogbu
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has claimed that the governors of Rivers, Plateau, and Kano states are set to join the ruling party within the next two months.
Ijeoma Arodiogbu, the APC national vice-chairman (South-East), made the revelation in an interview with Punch newspaper, describing the defections as “not speculative but imminent.”
“We are talking about governors from Bayelsa, Rivers, Plateau, Kano, either Abia or Enugu. In the next two months, you will see them join us officially,” Arodiogbu said.
He added that Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu and his Abia counterpart, Alex Otti, may also defect to the APC.
“Of course, Bayelsa is in the picture — that’s why I mentioned it. On Adeleke (Osun governor), I can’t give a definitive answer, but I know he has made moves,” he said.
Responding to ongoing talks of opposition coalitions ahead of the 2027 elections, Arodiogbu dismissed such efforts as unserious.
“This idea of forming a so-called opposition coalition is nothing but a media stunt,” he said. “These politicians just want to keep their names in the headlines. But Nigerians are aligning with a party that is delivering — and that is the APC.”
He also denied speculation that President Bola Tinubu has endorsed Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra for re-election.
“There is no arrangement to back Soludo. President Tinubu has not endorsed him. After he visited Anambra to inaugurate the Emeka Anyaoku Centre, we presented our candidate, Ukachukwu, to the president. He told us to go and win the state,” he added.
