Godwin Obuah: Jonathan’s CSO dies after DSS incarcerated him for 2 months
Godwin Obuah, former chief security officer to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, is dead.
He died at the National Hospital, Abuja, on Thursday after reportedly suffering “massive heart attack”.
Obuah’s death came after Jonathan was named in Malabu oil scandal — a deal in which an oil field worth hundreds of billions in dollars was sold for a meager $1.3 billion which was then allegedly shared among top government officials, including Jonathan.
Obuah himself allegedly benefited from an oil bunkering deal. He denied any wrongdoing but was dismissed from the secret service (DSS).
DSS fell out with Obuah after Jonathan handed power over to President Muhammadu Buhari.
DSS arrested Obuah and detained him for two months.
Obuah embarked on hunger strike to protest his incarceration. His health reportedly deteriorated in detention.
He died on Thursday.
