Gildo Zegna Hands Over Zegna Brand to His Sons
Ermenegildo Zegna has announced that Angelo and Edoardo Zegna will assume the roles of Co-Chief Executive Officers of the ZEGNA brand effective January 1, 2026. The change marks the continuation of a 115-year-old family legacy, now entering its fourth generation.
The announcement was made in a personal message from Gildo Zegna. Gildo, who has led the company for decades will transition to the role of Executive Chairman of the Ermenegildo Zegna Group.
Zegna described the brand not merely as a business, but “a family story that connects generations,” tracing its origins to his grandfather, Ermenegildo Zegna, who founded the company with a vision to create garments marked by craftsmanship, integrity, and longevity. “More than 115 years ago, my grandfather dreamt of building a legacy that could endure and be passed from one generation to the next,” he wrote.
According to Gildo, the new leadership reflects years of preparation, collaboration, and intentional succession planning within the family. He emphasized that the appointment of Angelo and Edoardo both deeply involved in the brand’s recent evolution represents “a natural evolution” that balances continuity with fresh perspective.
“This transition reflects years of listening and learning what makes ZEGNA unique,” he stated. “It ensures continuity while opening space for the next generation to bring their perspective and energy.”
Under Gildo’s stewardship, ZEGNA has expanded globally, modernized its identity, and strengthened its position as a leader in luxury menswear while retaining its Italian manufacturing roots. As Executive Chairman, he will continue guiding the overarching vision of the group.
The company maintains that its core values will remain unchanged despite the change in leadership. “Our purpose remains the same: to honor our past, reaffirm our values every day, and build the future with courage one generation at a time,” Gildo said.
The succession marks a significant step in ZEGNA’s long-standing commitment to family-led leadership, positioning Angelo and Edoardo to shape the brand’s next chapter amid a rapidly evolving luxury landscape.
