Ghanaian policeman who assaulted nursing mother in bank hall over 250 cedis arrested
The police officer that assaulted a woman in a bank in Ghana has been identified and arrested.
The officer, Lance Corporal Godzi Frederick Amanor, was caught on camera beating the woman who reportedly wanted to make a transaction after Midland Savings and Loans Limited bank had closed.
The victim, who sells toffees and tissues, said on a radio interview that she had been going to the bank since last Friday but was always turned away with the excuse that the network was down.
She said she refused to leave the bank when she was asked to come back again for her money. She said she was too broke to leave, as she had borrowed 60 cedis to pay fees since the bank started tossing her.
The bank reportedly paid her the sum of 270 cedis after the assault.
Ghanaian police say the officer was already in custody and investigation was ongoing.
