FUT Minna lecturer dismissed for sexually assaulting student
A lecturer in the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, Niger State, has been dismissed for alleged sexual harassment of a student.
Omanayin Yunusa Adinoyi, a lecturer from the Department of Geology, was said to have assaulted a female student who took his course.
The decision for his dismissal arises after an investigative panel found him guilty of inappropriate relationship with the girl.
Adinoyi’s dismissal was was said to have been approved during the university Council’s 131st meeting presided over by the Vice Chancellor (VC), Prof. Abdullahi Bala.
Bala said the lecturer’s dismissal would serve as deterrent to others as “the university has taken further steps to ensure total elimination of sexual harassment in the school.”
Adinoyi is the fourth lecturer across Nigerian universities to be dismissed over sexual assault allegations in three months.
