Fresh attack on Kaduna village by unknown gunmen leaves 14 dead, 17 injured
A fresh attack on residents of Ungwan Paa-Gwandara village in Kaduna has resulted in the death of at least fourteen persons.
NAN reports that the attack was orchestrated by unknown gunmen in the Jema’a LGA Sunday night.
The publication quotes a resident as saying the victims were at a wedding when they were attacked at about 8pm.
At least seventeen others were reported injured in the attack.
“Nine persons were killed on the spot while five died this morning at the Kafanchan General Hospital,” the resident, Joshua Paul, is quoted to have said.
“Seventeen others including six children who suffered severe degree of bullet injuries are still in critical condition.”
A victim in the attack, Mrs Victoria Martins, said that women and children were most hit during the attack. Martins herself was receiving treatment at the General Hospital in Kafanchan.
Police operatives have reportedly been drafted to ensure peace and calm in the community.
