Flood kills 10, displaces many in Adamawa

A total of ten people have been confirmed dead in a flood in several communities in Adamawa, the State Emergency Management Agency has said.

The Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Muhammed Suleiman told NAN on Thursday that the flood was as a result of heavy rainfall.

Suleiman said hundreds of domestic animals were also lost to the flood which mostly affected the Yola South, Guyuk, Lamurde and Song Local Government Areas of the state.

He lamented that the flood poses danger to food security as many farmlands have been affected.

“Flooding is becoming a serious challenge for us in Adamawa and the situation is indeed alarming,” Suleiman said.

“We lost 10 people and hundreds of people have been displaced. Domestic animals in large numbers were equally lost to the deadly flood.
