FG says there is nothing like fuel scarcity nationwide
The federal government of Nigeria, has again reacted to the ongoing fuel scarcity in the country.
There has been a nationwide tension, following the declaration of service withdrawal by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN.
However, IPMAN’s declaration which has since gone viral, has infused fear among Nigerians at large. At this stage, the fuel scarcity speculation got a major confirmation.
Throwing its weight behind IPMAN’s reason for fuel scarcity, the Nigerian government through its Twitter handle, claimed there is no shortage of fuel.
There is no shortage of fuel supply nationwide. What's happening is Hoarding caused by unfounded rumors of a price increase.
Queues being seen are because of a rush to buy product before a supposed price increase.
There's NO price increase; NO justification for panic buying. https://t.co/qB8wNFVQbq

While blaming the shortage of fuel supply on hoarding depot owners and petroleum marketers, the government claimed queues being seen in filling stations nationwide are caused by the rush to buy petroleum products before the speculated hike in price.
In some cities such as Lagos, the queues at filling stations have dissipated while in Abuja, there are still pockets of crowds waiting for fuel.
