Fayose, Wike and others who could be Nigeria’s next president

Nigerian politicians are already plotting their moves for the next election year in 2019, with a number of key personalities already sizing up to take a shot at the presidency.

We take a look at a handful of these men who are odds on to contest in the presidential election come 2019.

FAYOSE:

If one was to ask who the most popular Governor in Nigeria is, the name Fayose must definitely come to mind.

Although very controversial, he has been able to stay in the capacity of Governor of Ekiti for a long time; serving one term between 2003 and 2006 before returning to office in October 2014 for his current term.

Fayose has also boasted that he would become Nigeria’s president in 2019 through divine intervention.

And from the Ekiti Governor’s constant opposition of the Buhari-led government, his continual participation in politics has shown that he could become President of Nigeria someday.

He has often stated it is carnality that makes one look at him and think he could not be President of Nigeria. He strongly believes he is the man to watch in this generation.

Fayose is a kind of man that believes something has to give way for you to manifest,

He is a fearless man, a man of the people, a man that can drive himself on the streets without security. Fayose is a strong supporter of IPOB self determination drive.

WIKE:

Nyesom Wike needs no introduction, he won the last River State gubernatorial election in a power play with Rotimi Amaechi and has always been in the news over controversial statements regarding the next Presidential election.

Recently, he was in the news for being one of the PDP Governors that welcomed Buhari at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja on his return from a three-month medical vacation.

Wike has set another pace among his PDP peers that may likely gun for the Presidential race by 2019 as he has proven that leadership goes beyond party politics and political affiliations.

He has scored high for not only preaching one united Nigeria by his action of welcoming Buhari back to Nigeria, but has also demonstrated non-partisanship on issues of national interest as that of the presidency as a common property of all Nigerians and not of a particular party or section of the country.

DINO MELAYE

Senator Dino Melaye recently expressed his desire to become the president. This is despite being involved in controversy as a lawmaker.

His recent recall by his constituency put a dent on his contributions to issues on the floor of the senate during debates at plenary; having been accused of poor representation and not influencing his colleagues to attract developmental projects to his constituency.

But Melaye is one who remains resolute in a cause he sets on and you should expect him to give the presidency a shot at the next election or in the near future afterwards.
