Family of Three, Others Abducted in Bwari, FCT Amid Rising Insecurity
A family of three and two others have been reportedly abducted in the early hours of Monday in Chikakore, a community within the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to eyewitness accounts, gunmen stormed the neighbourhood, targeting the family—a man, his wife, and their son—alongside two other individuals. As of now, the kidnappers have yet to contact the victims’ families to demand a ransom or provide any information regarding their condition.
The incident has drawn the attention of law enforcement, with officers from the Byazin police station visiting the community for preliminary investigations. However, no official details have been released. When contacted, Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, stated that she is working to confirm the attack and will provide updates as soon as possible.
This latest incident is part of a worrying trend of abductions in the nation’s capital. In May 2024, armed men dressed in military uniforms abducted 20 individuals in Abuja, while in April, gunmen attacked the Bmuko community in the Dutse Baupma area of Bwari, kidnapping four residents.
