Family of Former Konga CEO Nick Imudia Refutes Suicide Claims
The family of Nick Imudia has refuted the widely circulated report that the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Konga committed suicide.
Several sources, not Neusroom, reported that Imudia jumped to his death from a storey building on June 25.
However, in a statement released on Sunday, June 29, and signed by Dr. Anthony N. Imudia on behalf of the family, the claims were dismissed as false.
The family stated that it was unhappy with how the media has reported his death as a suicide.
“The family of Nick Imudia is unhappy with the unprofessional manner the media has wrongly characterized the reporting of Nick Imudia’s death as suicide. This is also supported by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police’s office, which has vowed to investigate the sudden death of Nick,” the statement said.
The family also said that Imudia did not call his brother with “instructions on how to distribute his wealth, nor placed a call to his daughter with any instructions.”
“How come the news was reported so hastily (less than 3 hours from his death) before his family members even knew about it – and the medical team was still trying to resuscitate him at the hospital! The Imudia family wonders!”
Noting that Imudia comes from a close-knit family where support abounds, the family stated that the report that he committed suicide is suspicious.
“Nick never showed any sign of stress, and he was not diagnosed as depressed at any point. The thought of suicide in the manner portrayed and hastily reported by the news media is suspect.”
Before his sudden demise, Imudia was the Group Chief Executive Officer of d.light, one of the leading companies in affordable solar lighting solutions headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.
Having wide knowledge in various technological companies, including Nokia, when Imudia left Nokia after eight years, he joined Alcatel OneTouch, where he served as Regional Director in Nigeria and Central Africa. In 2018, following his exit from Alcatel, he joined Konga, where he served as CEO from 2018 to October 2022.
