Factors that will determine the outcome of 2019 elections

2019 General elections would be one the most eventful election in Nigeria. The contenders are already warming up for the forthcoming election.Tongues are already wagging.

Whilst people like Atiku Abubakar have already made their intention to run public, others like the incumbent President Buhari are yet to announce their candidacy.

 

But Nigerians are already deciding what would be of importance to them.

Below are some of the things Nigerians are saying about the forthcoming election:

Would a sick President Buhari run in 2019?
Nigerians are sceptical if a sick President Muhammadu Buhari, who has only just returned after over a hundred days of medical leave, would run for the presidential position in 2019. although, he is yet to declare his interest in seeking a second term of office.

Feelers have it that the possibility of that happening cannot be ruled out as his loyalists and political associates have continued to fly that kite. But the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which was ousted from power in 2015 by the All Progressives Congress (APC), has vowed to make a comeback in 2019.

‘Change the Change’:

The PDP’s resolve to upstage the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC government was reinforced at its recent mini convention in Abuja where the party’s bigwigs vowed to dethrone the governing APC using the slogan: ‘Change the Change’.

The economy:
Nigerians continue to complain that the economy;some people are angry that 2019 should not be our priority, day after day political talk trend majorly both online and offline with a A bunch of people obsessing on how to retain, capture or recapture power when our economy is in shambles.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had released the timetable for the 2019 elections in March this year, indicating that the next presidential and National Assembly elections will hold on February 16, 2019.


PDP ‘Heavyweights’ that may battle With Buhari:

Some school of thoughts believe that Nigerian politicians that destroyed Nigeria and led us to where we are now are being recycled and that new breed politicians are not given a chance, this is clearly evident in the list of the contenders vying for President in 2019: Ahmed Makarfi, Sule Lamido, Atiku Abubakar,Ayo Fayose, David Mark,Donald Duke,Ibrahim Dankwambo.
