Explosions rock fireworks plant in China, 1 killed, many injured
A series of blast swept through a fireworks plant in east China, early Wednesday, leaving one dead and 48 others injured.
Three other persons are reported to be missing still.
A total of 48 people were injured in Wednesday’s accident in a village in Shangrao city. The first explosion ripped through the fireworks factory at around midnight, and several blasts followed. Rescuers managed to pull out 21 people trapped in the factory’s dormitories, CCTV News reports.
More than one thousand residents nearby were evacuated as the blasts went on.
Although the plant has production permits, its executives are being held in police custody.
The cause of the explosion is yet to be established..
