Ex-Women Affairs Minister Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye Speaks Out After EFCC Interrogation Over N138 Million Fraud Allegations
Former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has addressed her recent interrogation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), stating that she honored the agency’s invitation to provide clarifications on financial expenditures during her tenure.
Kennedy-Ohanenye was questioned on Thursday over allegations of misappropriating N138 million during her time in office. She arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja at 2:15 p.m. and left at 6:50 p.m., following a session she described as professional and transparent.
Taking to social media platform X on Friday, the former minister assured the public that she had given a full account of her actions, emphasizing that she managed ministry resources prudently and even supplemented government funds with her money.
“I commend the EFCC for their professionalism and hospitality,” she wrote. “I appreciate the opportunity to address the matters circulating in the media and remain fully committed to cooperating with the agency.”
Kennedy-Ohanenye, a barrister by profession, insisted that she and her team executed their duties diligently in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda for Nigerian women and children.
