Mr Sunday Bulle, the ex-councillor is said to have left his hometown, Lobirin to Kwata community in order to escape frequent attacks only to be killed in the place he had taken refuge.

One of the residents of the community, Solomon Dalyop who confirmed the incident said that the gunmen arrived around 7pm on Thursday and shot at many people.

“When they finished and ran away, six people lay dead, including a former councilor who relocated to the community from the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area,” Punch quoted Dalyop as saying.

“What we are witnessing in various communities in Plateau State is a new form of unprovoked aggression against the people and the government and security agents must rise in defence of the communities before the gunmen wreck more havoc on innocent civilians.”

Although State governor Simon Lalong had vowed to tackle the resurgence of insecurity in the state by deploying a special task force to aid the police in restoring peace, many residents in communities like Kwata have insisted that nothing has changed.
