Enugu State Proposes N10 Billion for High-Tech CCTV Security in 2025 Budget

Enugu Signs $100m Water Infrastructure Deal with Austrian Firm

The Enugu State Government has unveiled an ambitious plan to allocate N10 billion in its 2025 budget for the installation of advanced Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at strategic locations, including bus stops, high-density junctions, and major highways.

This initiative, part of a broader strategy to bolster security and enhance safety, is designed to position Enugu as a prime destination for investors and residents alike.

Presenting the 2025 budget, titled “Budget of Exponential Growth and Inclusive Prosperity, Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Chief Chris-Roberts Ozongwu, highlighted the state’s commitment to leveraging technology for security.

“These cameras, equipped with advanced technology and searchlights, will be connected to a centralized monitoring system for effective coordination,” Ozongwu explained. “This latest security system is designed to make Enugu State a safe haven for Nigerians and foreign investors to do business and live peacefully.”

The budget proposal of N971.08 billion includes a significant allocation for capital expenditure, amounting to N837.94 billion, while N133.14 billion is reserved for recurrent expenditure.

To complement the CCTV installations, the government has earmarked N5 billion to procure official and security vehicles. This will expand the existing fleet of over 100 security vehicles already in operation.

An additional N1 billion will be allocated to upgrading the Enugu State Security Outfit, including the training and retraining of security personnel and procuring modern equipment.

Beyond security, the 2025 budget demonstrates a strong focus on agricultural development. The government plans to spend N20 billion on mechanized farming, including purchasing 1,000 tractors and other farming equipment.

Chief Ozongwu also revealed an N52.5 billion investment to clear and develop 100,000 hectares of land for three Special Crop Processing Zones. These zones aim to enhance agricultural productivity and competitiveness.

Further plans include revamping the state’s tractor leasing company with N1 billion and allocating N2 billion to construct farm estates. These initiatives will support mechanized farming and provide new opportunities for local farmers.
