#EndBadGovernance Organisers Plan New Nationwide Protest on October 1
Organisers of the #EndBadGovernance Nationwide protest have announced plans for another nationwide demonstration, set to begin on October 1, Nigeria’s independence day.
The move comes as a response to the federal government’s failure to address the demands made by the organisers of the hunger which was held across different cities.

A 10-day nationwide protest, which kicked off on August 1, lost steam shortly after President Bola Tinubu’s address on August 5, despite thousands of Nigerians taking to the streets to decry severe economic hardships.
Also, the protests, led by the Take-It-Back Movement and various civil society groups, were eventually marred by incidents of looting and arson, particularly in the northern regions like Kano, Kaduna, leading to many describing the protest as a flop.
Damilare Adenola, director of mobilization for the Take-It-Back Movement, on Tuesday, August 20, said that the government’s inaction has prompted the need for further rally.
Adenola announced the upcoming demonstration will be dubbed “Fearless in October,” marking a continuation of the August protests.
“We have seen that this administration, led by President Tinubu, has been unresponsive to our demands,” Adenola said. “We have come to realize that for many despotic leaders in Africa, protest is the only language they understand.”

The new wave of protests is scheduled to begin on October 1 and will continue indefinitely. Adenola emphasized that the ongoing demonstration aims to push the government to address the critical issues highlighted in their charter of demands and to draw attention to the need for substantial reform.
