Employment scam: Court convicts man for duping four people in Kaduna

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Kaduna office, yesterday secured the conviction of one Ewuga John Amos before Justice Tukur of the Kaduna State High Court on a one-count charge bordering on impersonation, forgery and obtaining by false pretence.

Amos, sometime in January, 2018 within the Judicial Division of the High Court of Kaduna with intent to defraud, obtained the total sum of N478,000.00 from the quartet of Yakubu Hassan, Charles Dorothy Kigbu, Ishaku Sunday and David Kasimu Kago with a promise to secure for them employment with the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS.

The offence is contrary to Section 306(a) of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2007 and punishable under section 307 of the same Law.

The accused when faced with the daunting evidence against him chose to plead guilty as charged before he was convicted by Justice Tukur

Mr Amos was sentenced to a 190 -days jail term or an option of fine of N200,000.00 and was further ordered that a full restitution in the sum of N478,000.00 be paid back to the victims.
