Emir of Ningi Dies at 88: President Tinubu, Bauchi Governor Mourn

The Emir of Ningi, Alhaji Yunusa Danyaya, a first-class traditional ruler in Bauchi State, passed away on Sunday at the age of 88. Danyaya, who spent 46 years on the throne, had recently returned from a medical trip to Saudi Arabia.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi and President Bola Tinubu have mourned the revered monarch, whose legacy is remembered as one of service and dedication to his community.

In a statement released by Mukhtar Gidado, his media aide, Governor Mohammed expressed deep sorrow over the Emir’s death, describing him as a “pillar of strength” and a “beacon of light” for the state.

“In this moment of grief, the Bauchi State Government, led by His Excellency, Governor Bala Mohammed, extends its deepest condolences to the immediate family of the late Emir, the Ningi Emirate Council, and the entire people of Bauchi State,” the statement read.

The governor prayed for the late Emir’s soul to rest in peace and for Allah to grant his family and the people of Ningi the strength to bear the loss.

President Bola Tinubu also paid tribute to the late Emir, commending his leadership and contributions to the Ningi Emirate.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, the President described Danyaya as “an illustrious leader who deployed the power and resources of his throne to serve his community.”

Tinubu extended his condolences to the people of Ningi Emirate and the Bauchi State Government, praying for the repose of the monarch’s soul.

Born in 1936, the late Emir pursued higher education at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, where he completed courses in public administration in the late 1950s and early 1960s. His long and impactful reign, which began in 1978, leaves behind a legacy that continues to inspire future generations.
