Elon Musk Expresses Regret Over Harsh Trump Comments
Tech mogul Elon Musk has admitted he went too far in his recent social media posts attacking U.S. President Donald Trump, marking a public retreat after a weeklong online feud that drew national attention.
“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” Musk posted Wednesday morning on X, the social media platform he owns.
The dramatic fallout began after Musk stepped down from his role at the White House’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), criticizing Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” for allegedly undoing reforms achieved by his agency. The Tesla CEO didn’t hold back, backing impeachment calls and calling the president “ungrateful” despite past support that helped Trump’s election campaign.
He even accused the president of being named in the Jeffrey Epstein files and warned that his economic tariffs could “cause a recession.” Most of those controversial posts have now been deleted.
Reacting to Musk’s outbursts, Trump told reporters, “I haven’t really thought about it actually. I would imagine he wants to speak to me. I would think so, if I were him I’d want to speak to me.” He added, “And maybe he already called… ask him whether or not he’s already called.”
The president emphasized he had “no desire to restore” ties with Musk, labeling him “disrespectful to the office of the president.”
Vice President JD Vance weighed in, saying, “The President is a little frustrated but he’s been restrained because he doesn’t want to be in some blood feud with Elon Musk. I think if Elon chills out a little bit, everything will be fine.”
Musk’s recent posts show a subtle return to Trump’s camp, including patriotic emojis and reposts supporting the administration’s stances on immigration protests.
