Ekweremadu develops high blood pressure over EFCC grilling
The Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu has said he is not feeling so well, just as he was being grilled by the EFCC on how he came about over 60 assets.
Ekweremadu had developed high blood pressure during Wednesday’s grilling, various reports say. The lawmaker had reportedly undergone an 8-hour long interrogation on Tuesday.
EFCC alleges that over half of Ekweremadu’s properties which were listed in his asset declaration form filled at the Code of Conduct Bureau were undeclared.
A source in the commission was quoted as saying 38 additional assets belonging to the lawmaker were highlighted. He had an initial 22 assets to defend.
“The grilling started smoothly until he complained of discomfort and he was unable to continue to answer our questions. His sudden illness might have arise from high blood pressure.
“Since he needed urgent medical attention, we allowed him to go to the hospital of his choice for treatment,” the source said.
A medical report from the hospital confirming his fitness would determine resumption of his interrogation.
