EFCC inaugurates committee to reposition NFIU

The EFCC on July 19, 2017 inaugurated a committee to reposition the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, NFIU.
The committee comprises of Dr. Shehu Abdullahi, as chairman, Joke Liman as secretary, with Chidi Chikwuka from the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Bamanga Bello, Head of the Special Control Unit against Money Laundering (SCUML), Jamila Yusuf from the Central Bank of Nigeria, and Udofia Akpan Obot as members, and is tasked with the responsibility of repositioning the NFIU.
The decision to set up the committee, according to Ibrahim Magu, the acting EFCC Chairman, came on the heels of the recent suspension of the NFIU from the Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units.
