In order to curb terrorism, police have been authorized to stop and search vehicles across Nigeria. — Hate ’em, love, ’em. Nigerian policemen can execute Hollywood-like car chase.

The police posted the following statement on its website, Saturday.

On 24th July, 2015 at about 10:40pm, Police received a distress call from New Heaven, Enugu that four armed men just snatched a Toyota Highlander Jeep (reg no. withheld) at the gate of a male victim who was about driving into his house.

All Police units were immediately alerted, a patrol vehicle was equally dispatched to the scene. The snatched vehicle was sighted and given a hot chase by Police patrol team, at a point the hoodlums jumped out of the vehicle abandoning same and ran inside the bush. Police continued the chase on foot, one of the suspects; a male was caught and arrested.

Vehicle recovered to the Police station, arrested suspect taken into custody. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other gang members. Police SARS Enugu is investigating.
