Democratic Republic Of Congo suffers tenth ebola outbreak since 1976

It has been confirmed by the Health Ministry in The Democratic Republic of Congo that four more people have died from Ebola after two weeks of the outbreak that killed over 33 people in the northwest.

The victims were found in the Beni region of the North Kivu province, which shares borders with Rwanda and Uganda and faces serious security issues.

The report from the Ministry of Health states that “43 cases of hemorrhagic fever have been reported in the region, including 16 confirmed cases of the dreaded disease, 27 probable and 31 suspected cases under investigation too,”

Also,1000 people who have had close contact with the virus have been registered for further treatment. It was also stated that twelve teams who are in charge of vaccination will be deployed in different affected areas.

The Health Ministry had stated in on August 1st that the country was facing their tenth outbreak of the Ebola case right from 1976.

The World Health Organization also said in their statement that “the decline of the security situation” in the affected region was expected to affect the response to the outbreak”.
