DELTA: Father of 11 commits suicide after losing N600,000 belonging to church

Numa Julius, a father of eleven has committed suicide in Sapele, Delta state after being robbed of N600,000 belonging to the church. The money which is from the harvest fund entrusted in his care was said to have been carted away by a group of boys in the Oton area of Sapele where the church is located.

The 59-year old man who was reportedly acting strangely after the incident had been beseeching his friends and relatives for financial aid to replace the lost money and had threatened to commit suicide if no one helped him to end his misery.

Although some of those he reached out to had promised to help him repay the debt, he still went ahead to hang himself in his room, only to be found dangling by his daughter.

One of the sources explained that “He was in charge of the harvest fund in the church and a few weeks back he was robbed by some boys at the Oton area of Sapele where the church is located, and since then he has been acting strange.”

The report reveals that the man was taken down and buried yesterday afternoon. The Sapele Police Station confirmed the incident, saying they are currently investigating the issue to ascertain the circumstance behind the tragic act.
