Danish man to remain in prison over wife, daughter’s murder in Lagos
The magistrate court in Yaba has ordered the continued detention of 53-year-old Danish man, Peter Nielsen, until June 28.
Nielsen was accused of killing his wife, Zainab and three-year-old daughter, Petra in their home in Banana Island, Lagos about a month ago.
The proper trial of the 53-year-old will resume June 28.
Dozens of rights activists under the auspices of Women Arise NGO, families and friends of the victims, besieged the court in black in T-shirts with the pictures of Zainab and her daughter.
They carried placards denouncing the growing menace of domestic violence in the country.
“Our campaign against domestic violence will be pursued with renewed vigour in order to stop this menace that is consuming our families,” Women Arise president Joe Okei Odumakin told AFP outside the court.
