Covid: Four Important Habits To Maintain Post Vaccination

Thanks to the advancement of modern medicine, Nigeria received its first batch of 3.92 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccines on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, and several Nigerians have already gotten their first shot. A single shot of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is highly protective, reducing the chance of someone getting ill and needing hospital treatment by more than 80%! The recommended dosage is two doses given within an eight-week interval.

The first doses were administered in Nigeria at a treatment centre of the National Hospital Abuja on Saturday, March 13, 2021, and the nationwide vaccine rollout has commenced.

Despite the good news of the vaccine, the world still needs to keep safe. The confirmed cases in Nigeria have dropped in recent times, yet there are still new cases being recorded each day. We still need to keep safe, people!

Here are four things you should continue to do to keep yourself safe and protected.

Keep Learning And Improving Your Skills

The 2020 pandemic led to a rush of remote learning and has resulted in the rapid acceleration of e-learning.

Enrollment at Coursera, an online platform that offers Massive Open Online Courses, (MOOCs) has skyrocketed and was 640% higher between mid-March to mid-April 2020 than during the same period last year. At Udemy, another MOOC provider, enrollment was up by over 400% between February and March

These courses provide learners with career benefits, like boosting their job performance, helping them start a new business, and improving their application for a new job

Complete your Coursera course. Keep up with your Duolingo. Keep learning how to master digital marketing and data science and check out the new Google courses and certifications.

So, if you have some knowledge or experience you want to share, creating an e-book is a good way to go about it.

Keep Exploring New Interests And Going Back To Your Old Ones

Interests like baking, candlemaking, trying new recipes, painting, gardening also soared in 2020. Even as we begin to slowly return outside we should continue to engage in our hobbies and explore new ones.

They helped us survive a difficult time of loneliness, uncertainty, and disruption. These hobbies will also come in handy even as we go out to face the world. They make our world and experiences richer and we shouldn’t let that go.

Keep Maintaining Healthy Practices

The pandemic definitely forced us to be more conscious of our health and environment. We no longer took basic things like sanitizing our hands and surfaces, wearing a mask, washing hands, cleaning surfaces, and maintaining social distancing for granted. They were literally the things that saved and will continue to save our lives.

As you go about your day, use a sanitizer like the Dettol hand sanitizer frequently. Disinfect frequently touched surfaces in your home prone to germs with an antiseptic like the Dettol antiseptic liquid. Wear your mask, take your vitamins, and as much as possible maintain social distance. Don’t forget that handwashing became one of the most critical hygiene practices in 2020.

Also, take those vitamins, eat well, get enough sleep, meditate, do your yoga, and exercise. Take care of yourself. These are the things that we should keep doing, even as we begin our journey to recovery.

Stay Updated About The State Of The Pandemic

According to Google Trends, search interests for coronavirus, pandemic, vaccine, increased by 65%, as the wave of the COVID-19  pandemic began to spread across the globe.

We can’t let the interest wane. Continue to stay updated about the pandemic, the vaccine, and global health. Keep informed, protect yourself. Listen to only verified news, verify and confirm claims, and don’t peddle myths. Arm yourself with knowledge. Visit ncdc.gov.ng for accurate information about the virus

These are some of the important things to keep in mind even as we look forward to a world free from the scourge of the COVID-19 virus.
