Court strikes out 6 charges, says Nnamdi Kanu has no intention to manufacture bomb
A Federal High Court judge in Abuja has ruled that Indigenous People of Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu, habours no intention to manufacture bombs.
The embattled Pro-Biafra agitator had been facing 11-count charges on terrorism, treasonable felony, managing an unlawful society, publication of defamatory matter, illegal possession of firearms and improper importation of goods.
Justice Binta Nyako struck out six of the charges during Wednesday’s hearing.
Kanu was arraigned alongside the National Coordinator of IPOB member, Mr. Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi.
The struck out charges contained in Counts 3, 5, 7, and 10, related to management of unlawful organisation, intention to manufacture bomb, improper importation of a radio transmitter.
The judge said the struck out charges did not call for trial due to lack of evidence in the proof of evidence filed by the prosecution.
As part of her judgment, Justice Nyako said that the prosecution had failed to show that IPOB was either unlawful, unregistered or had been proscribed.
