Court sentences 7 impersonators to jail

Seven impersonators have been convicted by the Federal High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State.

The convicts were arraigned on Thursday on separate count charges for different offences bordering on fraudulent activities and impersonation.

One of the suspects, Ekoh Noel was arraigned for impersonating Nollywood actor, Mike Ezuruonye, on Facebook to defraud his victims.

Noel pleaded guilty to the charge.

Justice Ajoku convicted and sentenced the defendant to one year imprisonment, despite his counsel’s plea to temper justice with mercy.

Similarly, the court sentenced the duo of Favour Ojefia and Alex Igbinidu to six months imprisonment.

Ojefia pleaded guilty to a one count charge of fraudulently obtaining goods worth N500,000 from one Imasuen Christian Osahon of Just Cute Ventures. Igbinidu also defrauded same Just Cute Ventures.

Another convict, Odiete Jude Erowhow was sentenced to six months imprisonment for fraudulently obtaining the sum of N426,000 from one Sunday Ogba.
