Court orders police to arrest INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja presided by Justice Stephen Pam on Wednesday issued a warrant of arrest for the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu.
Justice Pam issued the warrant of arrest following Yakubu’s absence in court for the third time asking the police to effect the arrest immediately.
Yakubu failed to appear for a contempt proceeding filed by Ejike Oguebego and Chuks Okoye, both of whom are Chairman and Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party in Anambra State, respectively.The INEC chairman was initially expected to appear in court on July 10, but when the court sat on that day Yakubu did not show up.
