Court arraigns woman for allegedly selling baby for N650,000 in Abuja
A 48-year-old woman identified as Akwaja Adaeze was arraigned before the Magistrates’ court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja on Monday over allegations that she abducted and sold a minor for N650,000.
Police prosecutor Fedelix Egwube told the court that the Imo State Police command had earlier arrested one Pricilia Egole with a baby who they suspected to have been abducted. Priscila was said to have confessed that Adaeze sold the baby to her.
The prosecutor also added that the minor had been returned back to the parents.
Adaeze pleaded not guilty to two charges of criminal conspiracy and kidnapping, and her counsel, Jeojima Thompson pleaded for bail.
The Magistrate, Ahmad Ndajiwo, granted Adaeze N500,000 bail with two sureties who lives within the court Jurisdiction.
He adjourned the case to November 13 for hearing.
