Court arraigns suspected cultist who smashed mother’s head for ritual in Lagos
Taiwo Akinola, the suspected cultist who allegedly smashed his mother’s head in the Ayobo area of Lagos, was arraigned before the court on Tuesday (today).
The 29-year-old is facing an attempted murder charge.
Police had arrested the suspect on August 19 after he allegedly attempted to kill his mother for ritual purposes.
Police prosecutor, Kehinde Omisakin told the court that in a bid to murder his mother, 68-year-old Iyabo Fawole, Taiwo smashed an automatic voltage stabilizer and a wooden stool on her head.
Iyabo was left within an inch of her life before she was rescued.
The Chief Magistrate at the Ebute-Meta court, Mrs Komolafe ordered that he should be kept behind bars at Ikoyi Prison pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions.
She adjourned the case till October 8 for mention.
